Malariam, Arthritan, Hepatan and PilexWasserman, Comden & Casselman LLP is currently investigating claims regarding misbranding and inadequate labeling by the manufacturers and distributors of the products listed above. Malariam purports to help prevent and treat malaria without side effects. Arthritan is sold with claims that it will reduce pains due to arthritis, gout, and lumbagoor sprain without side effects. Hepatan is sold to consumers with claims that it treats or prevents hepatitis. Pilex is sold with claims that it will prevent and treat hemorrhoids. Yet, some question whether a scientific basis exists to support these claims. The FDA issued a warning letter to the International Corporation and Pilex Corporation stating that these products are considered new drugs without FDA approval and that the labeling bear inadequate directions for use.
